Dedication of Shumway Hall

This past April, Shumway Hall at the McIntire School of Commerce, was officially dedicated. Shumway Hall is named for Chris Shumway (Com class of ’88) and his wife, Carrie. The couple made a significant donation through The Chris & Carrie Shumway Foundation to finance its construction. Chris was president of the Phi house in 1988, recipient of the Harry R. Marshall, Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, a McIntire School alumnus and founder of Shumway Capital.

The April 29, 2025, edition of UVAToday shares:

“‘McIntire has a long history of combining academic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit while always looking to what’s next and staying true to its core values,’ Shumway said. ‘It was a great challenge to create a building for the future that fits into the core tradition and values that are UVA, and I hope you will agree that the team nailed it.’”
