Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee is responsible for executing the selection process for all the APAN scholarships. This committee is led by Joyce Li (Engr ’03) (jli@brownadvisory.com). Serving as a scholarship application reviewer can be an exceptionally rewarding experience.
Engagement Committee
The Alumni Engagement committee is focused on purposeful engagement for Asian Pacific Alumni of UVA. This committee is led by Jason Tan (Darden class of ’25) (jasontan.uva@gmail.com) with the support of four subcommittees:
Activities Subcommittee
The Activities Subcommittee organizes recurring events to promote community engagement among APAN members. These events have encompassed food and drinks gatherings, sports activities, museum tours, outdoor excursions, and other fun activities.
Mentorship Subcommittee
The Mentorship Subcommittee is dedicated to facilitating connections between APAN members and other APAN members, as well as current students. Additionally, it aims to cultivate enduring mentoring relationships.
Outreach Subcommittee
The Outreach Subcommittee coordinates interorganizational efforts between APAN and other UVA-affiliated groups and organizations.
Marketing Subcommittee
The Marketing Subcommittee promotes APAN events and announcements via our newsletters and social media platforms.
Professional Network Committee
The Professional Network Committee is dedicated to fostering meaningful professional connections among UVA alumni, facilitating career development and providing opportunities for social interaction. This committee is led by Adam Luo (Grad class of ’20) (zhongwenluo2@gmail.com).
Impact Committee
The new Impact Committee will provide accessible mini-grants to student and student organizations to support:
- Cultural events: festivals, performances, heritage month celebrations
- Educational initiatives: speaker series, workshops, research projects
- Community-building efforts: intergenerational dialogues, mentorship programs
- Arts & storytelling: film screenings, exhibitions, oral history projects
