Read the Summer 2026 Xi Lights

Brothers,

I hope your summer is going well! I am happy to report that the reinstallation of Xi Chapter remains on track, and we are encouraged by the progress the undergraduate chapter has made over the past year. This spring, the undergraduates successfully completed their new member education process with the support and oversight of the Alumni Probationary Committee, which includes Ross Holden (Col class of ’75), Spencer Phillips (Col class of ’85), John Elliott (Col class of ’74), and myself. Their final step before becoming fully initiated members is to complete a drug screening at the beginning of the new academic year.

The chapter will remain on probation through January 2027. During that time, the Alumni Probationary Committee will continue to work closely with the undergraduate leadership, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight as they rebuild the chapter on a strong foundation. Xi Chapter will return to good standing with Theta Chi International Headquarters following the successful conclusion of the probationary period. Our involvement will not end there. The Alumni Corporation intends to remain actively engaged with the chapter as mentors and advisors, helping undergraduate leaders build a healthy chapter culture and ensuring that the circumstances that led to the chapter’s termination are not repeated.

An important part of that rebuilding process is reconnecting Xi Chapter with the broader Fraternity. This summer, representatives from both the Alumni Corporation—Chris Hatcher (Col class of ’11) and Bill Morck (Col class of ’10)—and members of the undergraduate chapter attended Theta Chi’s 170th Anniversary National Convention in San Antonio. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our relationship with International Headquarters, learn from other chapters and alumni groups, and demonstrate that Xi Chapter is committed to once again being a strong and valued member of the national organization.

Meanwhile, the house at 600 Preston Place remains in good condition thanks to the continued support of our property manager, MSC, and our Alumni House and Grounds Committee, Spencer Phillips (Col class of ’85) and John Elliott (Col class of ’74). We are excited about the future of Xi Chapter and believe the undergraduates are on the right track to restore our proud legacy on grounds. That effort will continue to depend on an engaged alumni network and our ability to maintain and invest in 600 Preston Place. I encourage every alumnus to stay involved, reconnect with the chapter, and consider supporting one of the donation funds outlined below. We look forward to seeing you at the annual Homecomings tailgate!

Thank you, as always, for your continued commitment to Xi Chapter.

Fraternally,
Miles Kirwin (Col class of ’13)
Alumni Corporation President
