Alumni Advisor Letter

Dear Brothers,

I hope this newsletter finds everyone well and ready for summer.

Eta Chapter continues to outperform, and we are proud of the exemplary leadership of our active brotherhood throughout the school year. Alumni support remains strong, and we are in an outstanding position one year out from celebrating our 175th Anniversary. 2026 finished on a high note with the induction of 28 new impressive young men into our brotherhood.

This class truly exemplifies what it means to be a DKE at UVA and includes men from a wide array of backgrounds and hometowns. We are excited to welcome them into the Delta Kappa Epsilon brotherhood, and we are looking forward to their continued contributions to the best house on Grounds.

We congratulate our class of 2026 graduates and appreciate their contributions to the house during their time at the University. They are destined for a bright future ahead and we wish them well as they make their way in the world as proud Eta graduates. They are a strong class, and we believe they will be active in supporting the house and participating in alumni events.

Our active brotherhood had several highlights during the 2025-2026 school year, including having starting members on the Varsity Lacrosse and Varsity Squash teams, successful fundraisers for the Will Barrow Memorial and Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation, and active participation in student leadership. The DKEs continue to set the standard for academic and social achievement at the University. I would like to extend hearty congratulations to James Shepard (Com class of ’27), our Boree, and the rest of the actives on such a successful year. They set the example for other houses when it comes to excelling at the University and we are pleased to call them our own.

The spring semester saw the return of our parents’ weekend golf tournament after missing last year due to inclement weather, and we were thrilled with the turnout. We had over 70 golfers join us for the tournament supporting the Bob and Em Green Scholarship. The event was held at the Meadowcreek Golf Course and provided yet another great opportunity for our actives, their parents, and alumni to gather on the course in celebration of our brotherhood.

The focus for the alumni board continues to be keeping the house in excellent condition. I would like to personally thank Doug Croker (Col class of ’71) for taking on a leadership role in driving the maintenance of the house and much needed improvements. His generosity with his time and talents have helped us keep the house in top shape coming into the 175th anniversary of our fraternity. There are several long-needed repairs to the woodwork and infrastructure in the house that we will be actively addressing this summer. These repairs and improvements will be funded by our 175th Anniversary Capital Campaign, which will hit full speed in September. Stay tuned for more information this fall.

We are grateful for your continued support of the Eta Chapter. This house owes so much to all of you, and we extend our sincere gratitude.
