Dear Alums,
The 2026 spring semester is off to a good start, with UVA Basketball ranked in the top 20 and the Zete house welcoming 19 pledges. This new crop of pledges is a strong one, with recruits hailing from Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.
This spring also marks the planned leadership transition within the ZY Alumni Advisory Board Executive Committee. We are deeply grateful to Bobby Schwartz (Col class of ’85), Tom Hicks (Col class of ’87), and Michael Connors (Col class of ’85) for their unwavering support and for the critical (and often thankless) work they did over the past several years as President, House Manager/Treasurer, and Ex-Officio, respectively. Looking forward, I am honored to serve as President of the Executive Committee. Troy Zieman (Col class of ’10) will serve as Vice President, and Kevin Willis (Col class of ’94) will serve as House Manager/Treasurer. Bobby Schwartz will remain as Ex-Officio.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are planning to be in town or if you have any questions. Go HOOS!
Regards,
D. French Slaughter (Col class of ’08)

The Fight Against Suicide
Adding to a long tradition of philanthropy, the Zete House was instrumental in raising funds for The Fight Against Suicide (TFAS). TFAS’ mission is to save lives through awareness, prevention and hope. In an effort to unite the Charlottesville community and promote suicide prevention, students and alumni are hosting the first ever Fight Against Suicide event series. For those unfamiliar, this event involves several boxing matches between active students, who will receive training from TFAS staff members over a six-week period in the run-up to the event. TFAS was founded at UGA, and UVA will be the ninth school to host a TFAS event.
In an effort to promote TFAS’ mission, the Zete House raised over $25,000 within a month, allowing the event to clear an initial funding hurdle and be officially approved by TFAS. The boys are hoping to raise well into the six figures before all is said and done. If you’d like to help them reach this goal, you can contribute to the UVA-specific donation page on the TFAS website.
An Architectural History of the Zeta Psi House at UVA
“At the corner of Rugby and Culbreth Roads, just north of the historic Central Grounds at the University of Virginia (UVA), stands the Zeta Psi Fraternity House, an homage to Jefferson’s original early design for Monticello…”
