Dear Alumnae and Friends of the Chorus,<\/p>\n
My name is Claire Trivisonno, and I am a third year Computer Science major from Vienna, Virginia. After joining the Virginia Women\u2019s Chorus in the fall of my first year, I was fortunate to serve as both the Alumnae Relations chair and the Business Manager all while making some of my closest friends here at UVa. Now, as President, I am thankful to have the opportunity to lead a wonderfully talented group of women and to continue to give back to the group that has been so important to me during my time here. I look forward to working with both our Managing Board and our director, KaeRenae Mitchell. On behalf of the rest of the Chorus and the Managing Board, thank you all for your continued support.<\/p>\n
This semester is already off to a whirlwind of a start. After the blizzard wreaked havoc on our audition and rehearsal schedule, we finally welcomed five new members to the Chorus which brings our total to 40 devoted members. We had the pleasure of supporting the Hoos by singing the National Anthem at the men\u2019s basketball game against Syracuse. Despite the freezing temperatures and snowy conditions, all of our members made their way to John Paul Jones arena to sing their hearts out! We also had the opportunity to sing the anthem at the women\u2019s basketball game against Virginia Tech. In addition, we joined the Virginia Glee Club and a variety of UVa a cappella groups to perform in Singfest which benefitted the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Next on our busy agenda is an event called Winter Songs, a \u201cconcert of Sisterhood, Hope, and Healing.\u201d Many young women throughout the Charlottesville area will come together in song to convey a message of hope and to raise money for the Shelter for Help in Emergency. We are thrilled to represent UVa at this event, and we look forward to promoting the chorus to younger girls in the community.<\/p>\n
This year, our spring concert will be on April 2nd at 4 pm. We are so excited to continue rehearsing the beautiful repertoire that KaeRenae has planned for us. Of course, we would love to see all of you in Old Cabell Hall for our spring concert, but if you can\u2019t make it then, I am happy to announce that we will be singing in Roanoke and Waynesboro the following weekend. The Managing Board has been working incredibly hard to make sure both of these weekends are absolutely flawless, and they continue to impress me with their diligence and dedication to making sure everything runs smoothly as well as expanding the chorus\u2019s reach into the greater Virginia area.<\/p>\n
Thank you so much to all of you who came to our annual Candlelight Concerts this past December, and to all of you who support us through donations, communication, and attendance at our concerts. It is always a pleasure to meet our alumnae and to hear stories of their time spent in the Chorus. I look forward to seeing many more of you this April as well!<\/p>\n
