Chorus Friend David Peyton graduated from U.Va. in the pioneer coed class of 1974 and actually heard the first VWC Chorus concert in the spring of that year.\u00a0 He sang little during his undergrad years, being tied up with the soccer and track teams, winning the ACC once in soccer, and the government honors program (where he was a classmate of Mr. Sabato\u2019s).\u00a0 He has sung with several major choruses in Washington, D.C., first performing at the Kennedy Center in 1977, and currently singing Bass II with the Cathedral Choral Society.\u00a0 After a 39-year career in public policy he is on the verge of retirement.<\/p>\n
His older daughter Alexa (now Villalobos) followed him to UVa in the Class of 2013, eventually becoming VWC concert manager and Alto II section leader.\u00a0 Says David:\u00a0 \u201cThe V-Dubs make a lovely cool sound and deserve much bigger audiences than they get.\u00a0 I support the V-Dubs out of gratitude for the great experience that Alexa had and also, as a pioneer coed, to help redress the imbalance of support between men\u2019s and women\u2019s singing groups.\u00a0 I hope for the Christmas and Spring concerts to be regular events for Joy and me for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
