The social aim of the Fraternity shall be to exercise the widest influence for good. The moral aim of the Fraternity shall be the standard of love.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #232d4b\">History<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Theta is the first Greek-letter women\u2019s fraternity and was founded January 27, 1870, at Indiana Asbury university, now DePauw University, in Greencastle, Indiana. Theta\u2019s four founders were forward-thinking women who were among the first ever admitted to the college. They came together to share common interests of scholarship and friendship. The motivating force behind the group was Bettie Locke, who was asked to wear the badge of a men\u2019s fraternity but was denied initiation. She decided to organize her own fraternity.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #232d4b\">What We Are<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Theta is an international organization with college and alumnae chapters throughout the United States and Canada. The Fraternity is a not-for-profit Indiana corporation, with headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Fraternity\u2019s philanthropic arm, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, supports the Fraternity\u2019s educational programs; Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Theta\u2019s international philanthropy; and annually awards more than $220,000 in graduate and undergraduate scholarships to members.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #232d4b\">Delta Chi History<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>On April 3, 1976, the Delta Chi Chapter began at the University of Virginia.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Symbol:<\/strong> The kite-shaped badge<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Colors:<\/strong> Black and Gold<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Flower:<\/strong> The black and gold pansy<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mission Statement Kappa Alpha Theta is primarily a college organization whose mission is to promote the pursuit of excellence and to promote an environment which fosters a lifetime commitment to sisterhood.
