{"id":2000,"date":"2020-11-23T12:04:17","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T17:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aig.alumni.virginia.edu\/serpentine\/?page_id=2000"},"modified":"2026-05-20T15:05:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T19:05:19","slug":"fall-weekend-2020","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aig.uvaalumni.org\/qva\/past-events\/fall-weekend-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Weekend 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite being completely virtual, our 22nd annual Fall Weekend highlighted leaders who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the LGBTQ+ community on Grounds and around the world \u2014 from the founders of our organization to today&#8217;s student leaders and elected officials.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vicki Gist \u2014 our 2020 Outstanding Service Award recipient \u2014 perfectly summed up the underlying message for this year&#8217;s Fall Weekend and for every day moving forward, calling on us to \u201ccontinue to nurture and support each other, and mold UVA into the best possible place for LGBTQ+ students to live and learn.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As this year comes to a close, we are reminded of the support that has enabled us to create our Hardship Fund to aid students \u2014 especially those affected by COVID-19. The generosity of many has also helped us award more than $200,000 in scholarships and grants to 40 amazing students this year.\u00a0 Initiatives like these would not be possible without your support and engagement, and for that, we are immensely grateful.
