Chapter Update

Andrew Morrison (Engr class of ’25), Liam Timmins (Engr class of ’25), and Jacob Cochran (Engr class of ’25) hiking in the spring.

Our chapter seeks to maintain a strong balance between social activities, academic excellence, and extracurricular activities. These activities help build a strong brotherhood and demonstrate the value of membership during the rush process.

Spring recruitment activities included setting up a cardboard mini-golf course in the house, renting out an arcade, a bonfire, and a buffet dinner. Other highlights from the spring semester included a Super Bowl party, our ‘Masters of the House’ cup pong tournament, attending the Foxfield races with alumni, our glow-in-the-dark ‘Paint Rave’ in the basement, and Beach Week in the Outer Banks.

The chapter achieved an average GPA of 3.69 in the spring semester. Brothers also volunteered to paint cabins at Camp Holiday Trails and do trail work at the Autism Sanctuary.

Several brothers are on the UVA Solar Car Team. This team is designing a fully electric solar powered vehicle from scratch and racing it. One brother leads the telemetry team, another leads the braking and steering team, and another is building the battery pack. Brothers are also involved in the Smash video game, the Virginia Organizing non-profit advocacy group, consulting clubs, and the Outdoors Club.

The brotherhood entered the fall semester with twenty-four members. Seventeen are in the Engineering School and seven are in the College. Sixteen brothers are from Virginia, seven are from other states, and one brother is from Guatemala. Plans for the fall semester include an Oktoberfest celebration, a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains for fall break, a Halloween party, a ski trip, and the Young Alumni Reunion.
