All,
What an incredible weekend! From the first pour at Three Notch’d to the final notes at the Colonnade Club — it was energizing to see so many generations of Club members back in Charlottesville to celebrate our 155th Anniversary. Thank you for bringing your voices, your stories, and your enduring support. Relive the weekend with our shared photo album!
We kicked things off Friday night with a packed house at Three Notch’d, fueled by the music of Paul Wolfe (Col class of ’93), Ellis Butler (Col class of ’89), and Chris Walker (Col class of ’91). Their performance set the perfect tone for a weekend defined by the “band getting back together.”
On Saturday morning, we gathered in Old Cabell Hall for an unforgettable Alumni Sing led by Frank Albinder and John Liepold. The morning was made truly special by the presence of Don “Coach” Loach. At 99 years young, Coach shared moving stories from his era, bridging the gap between the Club’s storied past and its vibrant present. We were also honored by a surprise visit and remarks from President Scott Beardsley, a powerful reminder of the Club’s place at the heart of the University.

Our Saturday Gala was an evening to remember. We were privileged to hear from James Ballowe Jr. (Col class of ’78, Law class of ’81), whose 1977 history of the Glee Club provided the foundation for our modern understanding of the group. His remarks, alongside the presentation of the Gilly Sullivan Award to Fred Kaspick (Col class of ’73), reminded us all why this brotherhood matters so deeply.
As we look toward the 160th, we have three quick requests for you:
- Tell Us How We Did: Please take two minutes to share your thoughts in our feedback form so we can make the next one even better.
- Share Your Photos: If you have shots from the weekend, please upload your photos to help us preserve these memories.
- Support the Club: Reunions like this are made possible by the generosity of our alumni. If you are able, please consider a gift to the Virginia Glee Club.
Thank you for being part of the “Ten Thousand Voices” that keep the Glee Club strong.
Yours in Harmony, Love, and Brotherhood,
Jacob Friedmann (Col class of ’13)
Vice President, VGCAFA
