Happy Holidays from the Echols Scholars Program

We can’t believe that we’ve reached the end of another semester and year!

We were busy this fall with many new events for our Echols Scholars. In September, we ran our first-ever Resource Fair, connecting students with offices and opportunities across Grounds from the Library to UVA’s Education Abroad program. In October, we hosted best-selling writer and UVA professor Bruce Holsinger for a discussion of his recent novels as well as a career panel featuring six of our alumni. We wrapped the semester with a visit from Professor Louis Newman of Stanford, who shared his research on critical thinking and student success.

65th Anniversary Reunion Weekend

We’re now anticipating our Echols 65th Anniversary Reunion Weekend just a few months away, to be held March 20-21, 2026, at UVA and the Forum Hotel in Charlottesville! We encourage you to sign up here to be notified when tickets go on sale in January. We have an exciting lineup of receptions, panels, tours, experiential learning opportunities, and a special dinner program as we celebrate a legacy of curiosity, innovation, and academic excellence.

We have secured a block of rooms at The Forum Hotel. Though our booking link, you’ll enjoy a 15% discount off the best available rate. Please note that the rate is dynamic and adjusts with the market, so guests booking at different times may have different rates.

We Want to Hear from You

Whether or not you plan to attend the reunion, we want to learn more about you. We’ve designed an alumni update form, which allows you to update us on your many achievements, experiences, and connections since graduation.

Keep Us Updated

We hope that you’ll remember the Echols Scholars Program in your year-end giving. Our ability to bring in outside speakers, host social and academic events, purchase books and other materials, and foster student-alumni connections—especially at our upcoming reunion—is made possible because of your generous contributions. In our next newsletter, we look forward to sharing more about major changes we’re making to enhance our current Peer Mentoring program.
