{"id":335,"date":"2014-08-09T15:37:23","date_gmt":"2014-08-09T19:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aig.alumni.virginia.edu\/cdaa-college-topics\/?p=335"},"modified":"2014-08-09T15:52:26","modified_gmt":"2014-08-09T19:52:26","slug":"meet-financial-oversight-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aig.uvaalumni.org\/cdaa-college-topics\/2014\/08\/09\/meet-financial-oversight-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the Financial Oversight Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cavalier Daily Alumni Association&#8217;s board of directors recently selected eight individuals for membership on the new financial oversight committee, which will assist <em>The Cavalier Daily.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The members of the committee are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ken Bronfin\u00a0<\/strong>(Engr. &#8217;81; staffer) is senior managing director of Heart Ventures, a division within the Hearst Corporation that &#8220;makes strategic investments in companies operating at the intersection of media and technology.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kemp Dolliver\u00a0<\/strong>(Com. &#8217;83; advertising manager) is chief investment officer of Cherrystone Hill Capital Management LLC. He has more than 30 years&#8217; experience in investment management and investment banking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>John Lumpkin\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;71) recently retired as director of Texas Christian University&#8217;s Schieffer School of Journalism. He also worked for 37 years with the Associated Press as a reporter, editor, bureau chief and corporate officer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Meredith Levien\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;93; staffer) is executive vice president of advertising at <em>The New York Times<\/em>. Previously, she\u00a0chief revenue officer for Forbes Media LLC and held various positions with <em>The Atlantic<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Marty Kady\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;93; news editor) is editor of <em>Politico Pro<\/em>. He has worked for 21 years as a journalist at small newspapers\u2014such the <em>Winston-Salem Journal<\/em>\u2014and specialty publications\u2014such as <em>Congressional Quarterly<\/em> and the <em>Washington Business Journal.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sabra Purtill\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;84; copy editor) is senior vice president of investor relations at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 insurance company. Previously, she was managing director of investor relations and corporate communications at Assured Guaranty, a publicly-traded bond insurer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>George Rodrigue\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;78; editor-in-chief) is vice president and managing editor of <em>The Dallas Morning News\u00a0<\/em>and three-time winner of The Pulitzer Prize.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tim Wheeler\u00a0<\/strong>(Col. &#8217;74; editor-in-chief) has been a reporter for <em>The Baltimore Sun<\/em> for more than 29 years.
