The Bol\u00edvar Network Board consists of the following positions: President, Chair of Admissions, Chair of Alumni Community Engagement, Chair of Fundraising & Development, Chair of Professional Development, Chair of Scholarships & Awards, Secretary, Chair of Social Media & Communications, Chair of Graduate Student Groups, and Chair of Undergraduate Student Groups.<\/p>\n
The President presides over all meetings of the Board when present. The President oversees the Executive Committee and the entire Bol\u00edvar Network. They maintain regular communication with the Alumni Hall liaison and the Assistant Dean of Students for the Hispanic and Latino\/e community. When the Board is not in session, the President holds all the authority of the Board in managing the Network\u2019s affairs, subject to the limitations the Board may impose through a majority vote. However, the President does not have the sole authority to approve amendments to the by-laws, manage Network property or assets, or dissolve the Network.<\/p>\n
The Secretary maintains the Bol\u00edvar Network’s records, including compiling and storing meeting minutes. If the Secretary is unavailable, they coordinate with the President to designate a replacement. Additionally, the Secretary works with Alumni Hall and committee chairs to ensure accurate alumni contact information and communications are collected.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Admissions collaborates with the Admissions office to oversee activities related to the enrollment of Hispanic and Latino\/e students. This includes actively participating in recruitment efforts, campus welcome activities, and recruiting alumni to volunteer for these events.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Alumni Community Engagement focuses on growing the Network by bringing in new members, forming partnerships with other organizations, hosting networking events and career panels, and overseeing the creation of Bol\u00edvar Network City Chapters. The Committee aims to diversify the organization and extend outreach to a wide range of student communities and potential partners.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Fundraising & Development is responsible for creating an annual fundraising plan and identifying potential contributors to the Scholarship Fund. They are also responsible for maintaining communication and active relationships with our current donors so they\u2019re aware of all Bol\u00edvar Network activities and opportunities.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Professional Development oversees LinkedIn and WahooConnect platforms, creates job opportunity postings, fosters professional connections across fields, organizes workshops for job-related activities, and coordinates alumni panels for professional advice.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Scholarships & Awards manages the selection of scholarship recipients, community awards, and distribution of funds. This includes disseminating and collecting application materials, reviewing applications, presenting them for voting at the spring Board meeting, creating certificates for scholarship and community award recipients, and coordinating with recipients and Alumni Hall for fund disbursement.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Social Media & Communications is responsible for shaping and distributing the Network’s messages, managing newsletters, website updates, and overseeing all social media platforms. This position is also in charge of creating and maintaining a social media communications plan that provides consistent communication, at minimum, on a quarterly basis to our alumni and soon-to-be alumni.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Graduate Student Groups connects the Bol\u00edvar Network to the various Hispanic and Latino\/e graduate student organizations. This includes promoting events, forming partnerships, and serving as a direct link between alumni and the graduate student community.<\/p>\n
The Chair of Undergraduate Student Groups connects the Bol\u00edvar Network to the various Hispanic and Latino\/e undergraduate student organizations. This includes promoting events, establishing partnerships, and serving as a direct link between alumni and the undergraduate community. Ideally, this position will highlight what current students need to ensure, as a Board, we are being responsive to soon-to-be alumni.<\/p>\n
