Summer 2025 Newsletter

Dear Hoos,

Despite recent decisions made at UVA, we remain steadfast and committed to uplifting the Hispanic and Latino/e community and cultivating spaces where our voices, culture, and experiences are celebrated and centered.

As we continue building momentum for the year, we’re excited to share recent updates, celebrate our community, and invite you to connect and get involved.

Summer Mixer Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our summer alumni mixer, co-hosted with AAPAAN and Ubunye. It was powerful to connect with fellow UVA alumni from across different backgrounds and organizations, building relationships and celebrating shared values of inclusion and collaboration. We hope to make this an annual gathering, so stay tuned for next summer!

CIO Spotlight

LMSA+ recently reached out asking for support from alumni! Check out their blurb down below.

“LMSA+ at UVA is a new student organization supporting Latinx students pursuing healthcare careers such as medicine, PA, dentistry, and nursing. With only 7% of physicians in the U.S. identifying as Latino, our mission is to expand representation, improve health outcomes, and prepare students with the tools and community they need to thrive.

To make this possible, we are looking for financial support from those who share our values of unity, mentorship, education, and service. Your contribution would help us host speaker events and panels, launch volunteer initiatives in Charlottesville, and provide scholarships for pre-health students.

Whether a one-time gift or ongoing support, your generosity will immensely help the next generation of diverse healthcare leaders. If you would like to know more about us, you can follow our Instagram and make a donation through our Venmo! @lmsaplusatuva”

Thank you. Gracias. Obrigada.
