Letter from the Chair

Hello, friends!

During the 2024-2025 academic year, UVA’s Asian and Asian Pacific American Alumni Network (AAPAAN) remained dedicated to its mission of establishing a network that fosters connections and provides support for Asian alumni within the University of Virginia community.

In April, we held our first Asian Alumni weekend. This expanded our signature AAPAAN dinner celebration to include a welcome reception at the Asian American Student Center, a day trip to Carter Mountain, a special Asian guided tour of the Grounds, and delicious Bodo’s bagels to close out the weekend.

Our Engagement Committee, led by Sanjeev Kumar (Com ’23, Col ’23), has been highly active this year. The committee has organized various events throughout the year, primarily in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, with a couple in New York City. For our Hoos who have settled in Boston, Atlanta, or California, we are planning events in your area, so stay tuned. We endeavor to host events that resonate with young alumni, families, and senior alumni.

Our work is not possible without your support. I hope you’ll continue to help us with a financial donation. We’re always looking for volunteers to turn vision into reality. To that end, we are accepting applications to join our Board of Directors and Alumni Engagement Committee. To learn more about the available positions, please visit this link.

If you’d like to get involved with AAPAAN, or just to share your thoughts, please reach out to me at randywong@alumni.virginia.edu, or check out our “Get Involved” webpage.

Wahoowa!
